In this exciting role as an Engineering Manager, you will have responsibility for leading a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians supporting Capacitor manufacturing used in implantable medical devices.  The Brooklyn Center facility supports the design, development, and production of components used in implantable devices for a variety of Medtronic businesses.  In this role you will gain experience with different technologies that support Medtronic’s portfolio and will work closely with Process Development, Quality, Reliability Engineering, and Regulatory Affairs, supporting your development and growth.  This role reports to the Senior Engineering Manager in Capacitors and oversees and directs the work of manufacturing engineers and technicians.  What does it take to be a leader at Medtronic?  We look for inspiring and inclusive leaders who partner with others, knowing that diverse talent, skills, and perspectives lead to better outcomes. This role is expected to sit onsite 5 days a week with flexibility to work from home depending on business need.

A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

•Strive for continuous improvement and consistency in deliverables.
•Lead, direct and review the work of a team who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
•Managing people which includes:  Mentoring, developing and coaching staff on meeting/exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives, providing leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals.
•Set clear objectives, evaluate progress against objectives, and instill performance-oriented culture with a focus on accountability.
•Provide resource allocation guidance to the technical group through analysis of current and future workload and skill availability.
•Assure the integration of structured problem solving through coaching, training, and practice.
•Emphasize a proactive approach to achieve optimal manufacturing targets.
•Partner with research and technology and process development to ensure new components flawlessly launch and are capable prior to transfer from development.
•Actively participate in operations strategic planning to assure alignment with strategic business direction.
•Ensure functional standards and procedures are followed
•Review project specifications, resource estimates and scheduling.
•Attract and retain talent within the team and build a highly empowered culture.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

•Advanced Degree
•Experience working within a regulated environment (e.g. medical, aerospace, automotive)
•Leadership experience in FDA regulated environment and/or GMP
•Lean Sigma certification and/or demonstrated experience in lean transformation
•Demonstrated experience in change management
•Demonstrated ability to lead in FDA regulated environment
