The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for conducting routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, or finished product, using a variety of inspection devices, inspection methods, and procedures to maintain product quality. Additional responsibilities of the Quality Technician includes utilizing the nonconformance system for purchased parts, fabricated parts, and assemblies that are found to be noncompliant, and working with the various departments to address those nonconformities.
Major Areas of Accountability of Quality Control Inspector:
Performs standard inspections and measurements of parts and assemblies to ensure conformance to specifications
Collects and records results of inspection to maintain record of product quality
Initiates nonconformance reports when parts, products, or processes are found to be noncompliant
Supports root cause analysis of nonconforming parts, assemblies, and processes
Segregates and properly handles nonconforming material and scrap
Interfaces with production teammates to ensure expedited closure of issues/discrepancies detected during inspection and test
Provides input for continuous improvement of procedures, specifications, and processes
Assists in CAPA resolution in partnership with other Quality department resources
Performs other quality assurance and documentation duties as required.
Education and Experience of Quality Control Inspector:
Two years of post-secondary education in a technical field or prior Quality Assurance experience in a related industry
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required of Quality Control Inspector:
Ability to use pin gages, gage blocks, calipers, micrometers, microscopes, or electronic test equipment to perform at least one of the quality control inspection duties which include incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and final product inspection
Must be able to perform in a team environment with good interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving high quality while working with normal supervision
Must be able to work in a changing, fast-paced environment with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
Proficiency in algebra and geometry – able to accurately calculate surface, volumes, weights, and measures
Good problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (blueprints and schematics) and specifications
Effective oral and written communication skills are required
Focus, great attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks is necessary
Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word
Must be able to read and understand wiring diagrams, wire lists, datasheets and follow written or verbal instructions
Requires a strong initiative, proactive nature, and a sense of urgency
Maintains confidentiality and security of intellectual property (ITAR, Prototype)
This position may require working additional hours during periods of peak demand.
Physical Requirements (these physical requirements must be performed with or without accommodation) of Quality Control Inspector:
Position is based in a manufacturing environment which entails regular exposure to dirt, dust, noise, machine chemicals, fumes, and other attributes common to this environment
Ability to stand or sit for extended lengths of time is required; walk, bend, reach, stoop, crouch, and twist as required
This position requires simple and firm grasping and fine manipulating of the hands to support measurement and inspection of parts and assemblies
Position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have excellent natural or corrected vision
Must be able to perform continuous, repetitive motions with hands and arms
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration; risk of electrical shock
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
