Quality Inspector

Under general supervision, this position is Accountable for assurance of product quality through a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to: Inspection, testing, auditing and trouble shooting and recommending corrective action through research.

Essential Job Functions:

Performs NDT inspection of all piece parts, dimensional and visual to assure part meets all appropriate standards and codes
Performs in-process NDT inspection of weldments, dimensional and visual and maintains appropriate data records.
Performs final inspection of vendor weldments, dimensional and visual to assure conformance/compliance to appropriate standards and codes and maintains all data records.
Performs dimensional inspection using various types of close measuring and test equipment and maintains them in proper working order.
Document and Data Control: Develops and maintains inspection reports, initiates non-conformance reports.
Recommends method of improving product safety and improvements
Reviews Schwing prints that have been ECO’d for correctness.
Contacts vendors, internal and external, by email, telephone or personally concerning problems relating to quality of supplied materials, supplies and components.
Performs inspection of incoming truck chassis, identifying all specifications and quality of incoming trucks chassis. Maintains running record of truck VIN numbers.
Performs inspection of incoming contract units from GmbH, identifying all specifications and quality of incoming contract units per sales order and GmbH order confirmations. Provides inspection reports to GmbH
Other duties or assignments as requested

Physical Demands:

Performs inspections using testing and inspection equipment as well as response to quality issues on the production floor 75% of the time
Perform stationary work 25% of the time using computer and applicable office equipment
Perform work outdoors in all-weather 5% of the time
Interact with internal and external individuals or groups.

2-year technical degree in quality assurance technology or closely related field.
Previous experience in welding and/or quality
Ability to handle high work load and manage multiple projects
Proficient with Microsoft Office, SAP, Excel, and Word preferred
Possess a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to read blueprints, hydraulic and electrical schematics
Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
