Development Engineer II
Responsible for engineering aspects of products released to production after initial design development, including design of special order and customized products, maintenance and minor additions to existing products.

Bachelor’s Degree (Technical, Scientific, Engineering)
3 + years’ of HVAC-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
Good understanding of air handling equipment and/or refrigeration, Experience with coil developement desired
PC skills including Microsoft office applications. Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
Basic skills with CAD applications are a plus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
Give advice, analyzes information or serves as a professional resource on whom others may rely within a specific function
Participates as an engineering representative in cross-functional New Product Introduction process
Evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company
Procures materials needed to construct prototypes and supervises the design engineering of new models
Plans and develops test programs for prototypes
Analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional, performance, and safety specifications
Analyzes, evaluates, sources, and coordinates the procurement of new materials to support model changes
Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends cost improvement ideas through product, vendor, and design changes
Performs technical analysis of competitive products
Provides support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer support
Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Heat Transfer – Demonstrated knowledge of Condensing, Evaporating, and single-phase heat transfer. Understands application of heat transfer theory to HVAC Heat Exchangers.
Thermodynamics – Demonstrated knowledge of the application of thermodynamics to HVAC cycles. Understands the thermodynamics of the fluids used in chiller systems including low global warming potential refrigerants.
Turbomachinery – Understands physics of centrifugal compressor including performance and limitations.
Electrical – Understands fundamental electromechanical devices such as motors and actuators; understands power electronic devices such as VFD, Starters, and Switchgears.
Simulation & Modeling – Understands fundamental principles of single phase CFD, Finite element analysis, and Vapor compression cycle calculations. Can guide coworkers in the analysis of detailed case studies, problems, and simulations.
Test Data Analysis – Ability to provide accurate and sound conclusions from large arrays of test data.
Sound and vibration – Understand the fundamentals of noise and vibration applied to HVAC equipment.
Design – Generates creative solutions. Translates concepts and information into images. Demonstrates attention to detail.
