At Daikin Applied, Test Engineers work in a large R&D laboratory evaluating performance of new products and technologies. Test Engineers work on a team providing subject matter expertise to build and improve test facilities involving mechanical and electrical systems, data acquisition, and control/automation.

A Day in the Life:

You will learn and apply technical skills related to mechanical and electrical HVAC systems toward establishing new test methods for new product development engineering activities
You will be a primary technical resource for troubleshooting issues with test cells, instrumentation, data acquisition software, and test units.
You will create technical project plans for new or upgrades to existing capital test equipment.
You will work with cross-functional project teams to ensure testing expectations are clearly defined and communicated.
You will champion data collection process, from acquiring signals to data verification & reporting
You will provide technical oversight as required to general testing activities to ensure the highest level of quality and integrity of result.
You will implement laboratory process improvements as related to productivity, metrics, and continuous improvement.
You will review and comprehend external testing standards & how they apply to internal testing procedures.
You will develop new testing methodologies for incorporation into existing Daikin testing methods and procedures.
You will frequently use hand tools as needed to perform specialized tests, troubleshoot/repair equipment, etc.

What you will Bring:

Education/Experience: Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
Formal coursework in the areas of measurement systems, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, and strength of materials.
Proficient with fundamentals of instrumentation, including RTDs, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, and analog/digital data acquisition.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Ability to multitask & reprioritize tasks frequently
Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with vendors to perform work and services relating to mechanical/electrical facility systems
Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively with laboratory, design, and product marketing teams
HVAC equipment experience/understanding desired
LabVIEW experience and/or certification desired
Experience with PLC and PID controllers desired
Experience working in R&D center/lab setting desired
