Level 3 (class A) Machinist
I have nearly 10 years of extensive experience running a wide variety of CNC and manual machines, thanks in large part to working for one of the largest bronze manufactures in the country, and one of the largest medical device manufacturers in the world. I have extensive set-up, re-programming, process development, and troubleshooting experience on Mori Seiki, Hardinge, and Miyano ABX lathes, Citizen B and L series Swiss machines, and Nakamura-Tome 5 axis mill-turn machines. I also have experience running Lico LNT series 5-axis turning and milling machines, along with various CNC mills, Sodick Sinkers, and Sodick EDM Wire machines. Manual machines I have set-up and run experience on are Romi and Hardinge lathes, Fischer groovers, Sunnen Precision Honing Machines, and Bridgeport manual drill/mills. I have spent over 8 years almost exclusively setting up and running short-order jobs, prototype and sample parts, along with performing set-ups and programming other larger-quantity jobs for other employees to run. Along with this, I also have experience with various measuring devices and software programs including Brown & Sharpe and Zeiss CMMs, AS-400 Program Manager, Symantec Procomm Plus, and some experience using Solidworks. My training also includes 9+ years of experience with differnt styles of Fanuc controls. I have the ability to work directly off of blueprints, from writing a program for a part and setting up the machine, to prototyping and into whole scale production, along with troubleshooting any problems that may arise. In addition, I have been through many classes and courses while working at rms Comapny to improve and expand on my skills, including various GD&T and lean manufacturing classes.
CNC Lathe/Swiss/Mill-turn Machinist (July 2010 – Present)
rms Company, Coon Rapids, MN
Major Accountabilities: Precision manufacturing for the medical device field, specializing in machining various parts for pacemakers out of platinum, and implantable orthopaedic parts out of titanium, stainless steel, and cobalt chrome. Working with very tight tolerances and with an expectation that every part must be flawless in appearance up to 40x power under a microscope. I have extensive experience in several departments of the company, and my training allowed me to achieve a level 3 (or class A) machinist designation on lathes, swiss, and mill-turn machines. I had different responsibilites and job descriptions in the three different departments I worked in, but in every department, I had experience working in a ‘Lean’ shop environment, with a focus on documentation and continuous improvement. I also received the 2014 Operational Excellence Award, for my comprehensive work on process improvements throughout the company.
Pacing Lathe department-Complete set-ups and tear downs of Hardinge Conquest CNC Lathes, along with troubleshooting and editing programs before and during production. Various programming and editing of programs, with an extremely high attention to detail. Pacing Swiss department-Lead machinist in the platinum swiss department. I headed up all new jobs, and all prototype orders. Complete set-ups, programming, and process development on a day to day basis. Machines ran included Citizen B series and L series swiss. Also all of the same personnel responsibilites as the pacing lathe department.
Orthopaedic Lathe/Mill-turn department-Complete set-ups and reprogramming of Miyano ABX lathes, and more extensively Nakamura-Tome 5-axis mill-turn machines. Most parts I work on are extremely detailed parts, with more than 100+ inspection dimensions per part. I also had to incorporate extensive use of Brown and Sharpe, and Zeiss brand CMM’s due to the complex nature of the parts.
