Objective
To seek employment as a Mechanical Engineer where the job required knowledge of all aspects of of mechanical engineering, including pumping, tanks, piping, HVAC, other mechanical systems.
Education
BS in Engineering with emphasis in Mechanical May 1999
Idaho State University Pocatello, ID
Completed mechanical engineering sequences including specialization and received a degree in engineering specialized in mechanical.
Skills
Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer in the following states: ID, UT, WA, OR, CA, NV, AZ, WY, ND.
Familiar with building codes and standards for a wide range of facilities.
Experience designing and analyzing mechanical systems for various commercial and industrial facilities. Experienced using AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Elite Software, and other load calculation programs.
16 years directing and managing small to medium projects from conception to testing and startup.
ESCO Institute certified Universal Refrigeration Technician and experienced gas pipe fitter.
5 years hands on experience installing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical systems and facilities.
Experience
The engineering experience includes 16 years of engineering experience including design, analysis, and leading projects on small to medium commercial and large industrial systems. The large industrial systems were for the Department of Energy’s Idaho National Lab and for various companies such as Simplot, Molycorp, and Great Salt Lake Minerals. The project work included development of design criteria, schedule development, cost estimates, conceptual designs, final designs, construction and quality support, testing, and project closeout activities. Personally responsible for the engineering on systems up to $50,000,000.00. Worked with other engineers and cost estimators to develop cost estimates for the projects listed and lifecycle cost estimates. Lead small teams on the design and construction of various size projects. Oversee the work of junior engineers/drafters.
Project experience includes the design of small to large piping systems for steam/condensate, gasses, chilled water piping, water, waste water, vacuum, and process fluids including solids laden waste or process streams. Piping materials included standard ASME B31.3 type piping materials (normal fluid service, Cat M, and Cat D) including specialty pipe materials such as Hasteloy, Inconel, and AL6XN. In general, the piping systems includes pumps for the fluids being transported and included diaphragm, centrifugal, and positive displacement type pumps for both pressure and vacuum applications. The piping was generally designed per ASME standards and including ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.5, and B31.9.
Additional design experience also includes the design of HVAC systems for small commercial to large industrial facilities. In general, the large industrial systems were for the Department of Energy’s Idaho National Lab and include standard recirculation type systems for offices and general production area as well as more specialized systems for nuclear waste processing. The systems ranged in size from fractional tonnage unitary systems to 600 tonne cooling systems using chilled water for cooling and steam/electric for heating. Systems ranged from DX cooling systems to large multistage chilled water cooling systems. Blower sizes ranged from fractional horsepower motors to 300 Hp direct drive high pressure fans.
