The purpose of the project is imptove the safety and efficiency of the plants operations.
Condenser EC-7 replacement
January 2013 to Present
Members:John H., Colonial Webb Contractors
The new condenser will allow the Glen Allen facility to run lower head pressure in the summer and fall
months, thus increasing compressor effeciency. This reduces the number of comressors needed to maintain
system suction pressure, which ultimately reduces the electrical foot print and saves the company capital
dollars.
Red water chiller repalcement
January 2013 to Present
Members:John H., Colonial Webb Contractors
The Red Water Chillers (RWC) replacement will allow the Glen Allen Facility to better maintain the desired
product temperature… thus improving through put.
Compressor replacement
January 2013 to Present
Members:John H., Colonial Webb Contractors
The compressor replacement was hinged on the installation of the new red water chillers and will allow the
refrigeration department to maintain the proper suction or operating parameters with the increased tonnage.
Condenser EC-6 replacement
November 2012 to Present
Members:John H., Republic refrigeration
The repalcement of EC-6 condenser was to reduce the operating head pressure of the ammonia refrigeration
system. The coils where 80% covered with 1/32 or better of scale from top to bottom on all four condensing
bundels. The condenser was having no effect on the systems condensing capabilities.
boiler tube & DA tank inspections
May 2012 to Present
Members:John H., Holam Boiler
Annual Boiler inspections
Boiler No.1 morrison tube repair
August 2011 to Present
Members:John H., Holman Boiler
During an inspection, the boiler was found to have a leak in the morrison tube. The repairs where assed,
scheduled, and repaired to allow for safet operation and to prevent facility down time.
Evaporator replacement EU-10
February 2011 to Present
Members:John H., Republic refrigeration
The EU-10 replacement was a neccessity to maintain the freezer temperature range. The prior unit had ahd
multiple pinholes repaired of a 5-10 year range and a new opportunity had presented self. So replaement was
driven by both safety and neccessity.

Compressed air audit
June 2007 to Present
Members:John H., Pattons Air
The compressed air audit was completed in order to bring awareness of the cost of the compressed air as
an utility. Once the audit was complete the contractor and myself put together an action item list of the
corrections and or upgrades that would best benefit the facility in a energy reduction effort. Some of these
items where increasing pipe size to ease flow, adding a larger sump allowing the air compressors to unload
and shut down, adding smaller sumps through out the facility to reduce the demand on the main sump.
The install of a “heated” drier to replace the existing drier that used 30% of the compressed air to redry the
descant beds.
