Principal Control Systems Engineer

• Lead Instrumentation/Controls Engineer, Dissolved Nitrogen Flotation (DNF) Project,
ConocoPhillips, Buckeye, NM. Responsible for leading the Instrumentation and
Control Systems teams to expand the waste treatment facility (EVLRP) at
ConocoPhillips and the ESAGU Satellite Units. Developed the instrument data
sheets, control narratives, cause & effect diagrams, alarm list, and instrument index.
Responsible for providing weekly reports to the ConocoPhillips Project team,
Saulsbury Project Engineering and Scheduling teams. Responsible for
coordinating/leading the Control Systems Design to provide wiring diagrams, loop
diagrams, and instrument location plans. Responsible for the coordination of the
Control Systems team with the other Saulsbury Industries disciplines and the
Saulsbury Project engineering staff. Responsible for receiving and evaluating
quotations from various vendors for instrumentation and control systems,
coordinating with ConocoPhillips Procurement to purchase required equipment.
• DCP, Buckeye, NM. DCP ZIA II project. Responsible for providing loop checking
expertise and supervision of the instrument/electrical technicians and the DCS vendor
during the loop check phase of the project.

Senior Control Systems Engineer

• Lead Instrumentation/Controls Engineer, Dissolved Nitrogen Flotation (DNF) Project,
BP, Whiting, Indiana. Responsible for leading the Control Systems team to expand
the waste treatment facility (DNF) at BP Whiting. Developed the instrument data

Baytown, Texas. Responsible for developing instrument data sheets and procuring
instruments Lubes Unit in Baytown, Texas. Responsible for providing weekly reports
to the Lead Controls Engineer. Responsible for receiving and evaluating quotations
from various vendors, coordinating with Jacobs Procurement to purchase required
equipment. Providing expertise support to the Lead Systems Engineer to design and
procure the Honeywell DCS and SIS equipment.
• Lead Systems Engineer, PCC Project, CP Chem Corporation, Houston, Texas.
Responsible for developing Emerson DeltaV DCS controls the Nylon Plant in Jubail,
Saudi Arabia. Responsible for providing weekly reports to the Lead Controls
Engineer. Responsible for leading the development of overall Systems Architecture
and PLC interfaces to the DCS, RIE/DCS construction specification, coordinating
with the DCS vendor, and the PLC panel vendors, receiving and evaluating quotations
from various vendors, coordinating with Jacobs Procurement to purchase required
equipment, managing the panel construction & DCS/RIE construction, and executing
the factory acceptance test on the related equipment.
• OSBL Lead System Engineer, Crude Expansion Project, Motiva Enterprises,
Houston, Texas. Responsible for developing PLC controls and DCS controls for
OSBL units for Crude Expansion at the Motiva Port Arthur, TX refinery.
Responsible for leading the Systems team to expand the Tankage and Logistics DCS
system, Triconex system, and expand the Blending system on schedule to meet the
mechanical completion date within the allotted project hours. Responsible for the
coordination with the OSBL Systems team, Control Systems Lead, and the other
Jacobs Motiva disciplines and the Motiva Project engineering staff. Responsible for
providing weekly reports to the Jacobs Project Engineering and Scheduling teams.
Responsible for leading the development of PLC panel specifications, RIE/DCS
construction specification, coordinating with the DCS vendor, Triconex vendor, and
the PLC panel vendors, receiving and evaluating quotations from various vendors,
coordinating with Jacobs Procurement to purchase required equipment for the OSBL
area, managing the panel construction & DCS/RIE construction, and executing the
factory acceptance test on the related equipment. Provided field expertise for loop

checkout with the Honeywell HPM DCS and the PLC panels onsite. Responsible for
leading a team to complete each unit’s RIE FAT at the RIE vendor’s facility and
coordinating activities with the client.
• Instrumentation/Controls Engineer, Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel, Valero Corporation,
Houston, Texas. Responsible for developing PLC controls for turbine-driven and
motor-driven compressors located at three different Premcor refineries. Responsible
for leading to design team to layout and design of the 23 control panels, developing
panel specifications, receiving and evaluating quotations from the panel vendors,
issuing the purchase order to the selected panel vendors, managing the panel
construction, and executing the factory acceptance test on the panels. Provided field
expertise for loop checkout with the Honeywell DCS and FSC onsite.
• Electrical and Instrumentation engineer for the Boeing Polysonic wind tunnel at the
St. Louis facility. Responsible for the software development, electrical and
instrumentation design, and startup of PLC and HMI systems to integrate the controls
of one electrical motor driven air compressor, two cooling towers, one air dryer and
interfacing with the controls of a gas turbine air compressor. The control system
consists of Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs, and Wonderware Archestra (V8.0).
• Systems engineer for the Miracle Whip Next Generation process at Kraft Foods Inc.,
Champaign, IL. Responsible for software development, software team management
and startup of PLC and HMI systems to integrate the new process into the existing
Miracle Whip process, plus the new Cooling Tower and Hot Water Systems. The
control systems consist of Allen-Bradley SLC 500s, PLC 5s, RSView32 and
PanelView 1000.
• Systems Engineer for addition of a new flavored malt beverage process at Miller
Brewing Company, Tumwater, WA. Responsible for software development and
startup of PLC and HMI systems in conjunction with existing flavored product
processing and filling operations. Control systems consist of MODICON Quantum
and 984 PLCs and Wonderware Intouch HMIs.

Engineered Solutions Group, St. Louis, Missouri 2/01 – 10/01
Principal Engineer

• Managed the engineering and BASIC programming for the electrical and mechanical
modifications for a dual winder at NIKE IHM. The dual winder used Pacific
Scientific motor drives for control.
• Managed a project team and engineering support for a database consolidation project
for Ameren/UE Callaway Plant. The database consolidation project used the Iconic’s
HMI package to view from multiple databases.
• Provided GUI and Visual Basic programming using the GE Fanuc Cimplicity HMI
package for production reports for Esselte Corporation.

• Managed a project team and provided engineering support, which included on-site
support, for boiler controls upgrade projects for the large electrical power generating
facility using PRoVOX Series 10 and 20 DCS at Solutia W.G. Krummrich Plant.

generator controls upgrade for Ameren using Westinghouse WDPF DCS and Bailey
DCS.
