Project Engineer, Electrical/Design (2012-2015)
Electrical and Electronic design of PLC and DCS systems.

Designed and developed DCS and PLC/SCADA controls systems for various industrial, commercial and
manufacturing facilities. Systems were designed for Yokogawa, Foxboro and Siemens (PCS7). All
designs included electrical and layout AutoCAD drawings, Bill of Materials, price quotes and
sequence of operations, and programming at the PLC and HMI levels as necessary on Allen Bradley and
Siemens PLCs. Designs included on-hands installation as well as contractor management.

Controls Design Engineer (2011-2012)
Designed, developed and tested integrated controls systems from customer defined specifications.

Developed computer and controls technology for fully integrated security and perimeter defense
solutions utilizing AutoCAD for all preliminary, submittal and as-built drawings for both power
(120vac single phase through 480vac three phase) and controls. Systems designed included ABB, Omron,
DirectLogix and Siemens PLCs; Siemens, Planar and Windows based HMI/touch screen and manual
interactive devices, ABB and Siemens VFD drives. Programming in Codesys, RSLogix, DL5, and Siemens
S-7, as well as HMI programming with Protools, Codesys and WinCC. Field installation of systems
including CCTV, Barrier/Bollard placement and controls, and entry security keypads and RFID
equipment.

Power Systems and Controls

Field Service/Jr. Engineer (2010)
Designed, installed, tested and repaired electrical and electronic systems including PLCs, drives,
analog and digital components.

Assisted in the development and building of cutting edge computer and controls technology in the
power generation field for the Departments of Defense, Energy, and State as well as Fortune 200
companies. Systems included AB and Siemens PLC design and programming, HMI/touch screen and manual
interactive devices, AB drive selection and programming as well as HMI programming with Protools,
Wonderware and WinCC. During field installation, consulted with engineers of the mechanical and
electrical disciplines, to propose changes to design, programming and hardware as well as confirm
100 percent operation on site during installation.

Self-Employed (Black & White Solutions)

Electrical/Electronics Consultant (2006-2010)
Inspected and recommended repairs/upgrades on electrical distribution for various Department of the
Navy and civilian installations.

Inspected facility and power distribution and controls equipment for required maintenance and
repairs. Reports to the DoN were based on priority/urgency and estimated cost of the required
repairs. Inspections included residential and industrial electrical power distribution, generators,
sub-stations, transformers and panels, security systems including CCTV and RFID, and associated
controls. Consulted on, programmed and repaired residential and commercial electrical and electronic
equipment.

J. W. Fergusson and Sons, LLC

I&C/Electronics Lead (1996-2006)
Provided electronics support for two industrial facilities; trained and led a 4 man electrical team
to cover 30M in manufacturing and support equipment.

Responsibilities included laying out, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying
electrical and electronic systems and components for high speed gravure and offset presses and
cut/finishing equipment. Maintained and repaired sub-station and main panels as well as transformers
and electrical discharge equpment up to 13,400VAC. Programming and troubleshooting of PLCs (AB,
Siemens, Direct Logic and Omron), AC and DC drive systems (Reliance, SSD, CMC and Siemens) and
related components. Installed, maintained, programmed and repaired CCTV and card reader security
systems. Created, updated and maintained wiring diagrams, schematics, and ladder logic diagrams in
AutoCad.

United States Army (domestic and international locations)
Primary MOS 52D Power Generation Equip. Tech./Administrative NCOIC (1984-1994)
Directed planning and operations for 8 staff members. Installed, maintained, inspected and repaired
engineering equipment including 1.5kw gasoline through 100kw diesel, trailer mounted power
generators. Led and trained squad level element in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and
repairs and required MOS skills.

Maintained and repaired power generation equipment from 1.5kw gasoline, skid mount through 100kw
diesel, trailer mounted units. Inspected and repaired engines, fuel systems, controls and wiring, as
well as the trailer/mounting systems. Managed training, evaluation, and mentoring programs at the
squad level. Established core development standards, policies and procedures and maintained
administrative records.

Selected Contributions:
* Recognized (Army Commendation Medal) for “no faults noted” recovery of company engineering
equipment from Desert Storm and creating standard operating procedures at company level and
summarily adapted as battalion standard operating procedures and organizing/maintaining
records for 150+ personnel.
* Received seven Army Achievement medals for performing duties above and beyond standards in the
engineering field.
