Mechanical Engineering Experience:
Senior Design Project: Sanford Surgical RadiaAon Shield
Created/opAmized a design for a radiaAon shield for use by surgeons during
minimally invasive surgeries. We picked design variables and found ways to weight
and opAmize each.
• Choose design variable and create a matrix
• OpAmize center of gravity to avoid Apping
• Model cart’s aVenuaAon using XRMC soMware
• OpAmize cart based shield for use by surgeons to reduce radiaAon exposure
over Ame
Student Engineering PosiAon: Daktronics – Brookings SD, From 06/2013 to 06/2014
I did custom contracts where I would take a contract from incepAon to compleAon.
This included creaAng PBOMs and other drawings for manufacturing to use. If
contract had any custom parts I would create the CAD files and drawings and enter
them into the system. I also did work for full Ame engineers, either doing drawings,
prototyping or tesAng for them. Skills I developed include.
• Sheet metal design
• Prototyping
• CAD drawings
• Time/Project opAmizaAon
Various Engineering Course Projects:
• Experimental Analysis of viscosity with a high speed camera.
• Star CCM+ model of a B2 bomber and analysis of flying wing vs. archetypical
plane design
• Star CCM+ tutorial on pipe opening manipulaAon.
