Electrical Engineer & Mechanical Designer

Summary
I am an Electrical Engineer & Mechanical Designer at OATI, currently focussed on the electrical and
mechanical design of devices used in AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure).
Prior to this position I was a full-time Electrical Engineering student at the University of British
Columbia where I specialized in Energy Systems Design. I have a passion for this particular field
of electrical engineering & experience with mechanical fabrication methods. This led me to an
engineering career at OATI.
The best part of my job is being able to actively participate in the entire product development cycle.
To elaborate, I find it immensely satisfying to draw a concept on a whiteboard, develop it in software
(Altium or Solidworks), and finally make it ‘alive’ or tangible in a physical PCB or Plastic Part.
Due to the dynamic nature of work at OATI, there are many opportunities to cross disciplines and
interact with various departments. My favourite interactions are with the Manufacturing Department
as they work with the Engineering Department to resolve the logistical challenges of bringing a
product to market.
I am always interested in hearing from other electrical engineers, engineering alumni from UBC and
musicians, so feel free to contact me if you would like to connect.
Experience
Electrical Engineer & Mechanical Designer at OATI
May 2016 – Present (1 year)
• Designed Switching Power Supplies & Back-Up Power Systems using Altium
• Used UL/CSA standards for Industrial ULV Electronic systems design
• Participated in EMC Pre-Compliance testing (Radiated & Conducted Emissions)
• Performed ESD testing & produced corresponding circuit protection solutions
• Developed Electrical & Mechanical Assemblies for a Custom In-Circuit Test Fixture

• Corresponded with Injection Molding Manufacturers to meet DFM requirements
• Drafted drawings for product box-build assemblies
Simulation Software Designer at The University of British Columbia
May 2014 – April 2016 (2 years)
• Used Javascript to develop simulations of electromagnetic wave transmission and reflection in 1
dimension.
• Developed a graphical simulation for exponential decay and growth using Javascript.
• Integrated Javascript with HTML5, CSS and Bootstrap to develop a scaleable GUI for the
simulations above.
• Seamlessly embedded the above-mentioned simulations in the EDX course framework.
• These simulations were utilized in the classroom by professors at UBC to enhance their students’
educational experience
Flexible Learning Support Worker at The University of British Columbia
September 2013 – April 2014 (8 months)
• Assisted in the planning and development of electrical engineering course material.
• Coordinated with a team of five to produce and publish educational videos for engineering
courses.
• Presented engineering concepts such as Gauss’s Law and Coulomb’s Law in Spherical,
Cylindrical and Cartesian Coordinates.
• Trusted with a modest budget to purchase and test various educational software tools to be
implemented in the classroom.
