I am currently a Senior Cost Estimator with 35+ years of experience estimating total installed costs estimates for construction and engineering projects. This includes establishing all labor and material costs associated with all disciplines within the refinery and petrochemical industries. I feel I would be an asset to any company requiring the services of a senior level cost estimator with experience and proficiencies in various estimating and scheduling software.
PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Audubon Companies, La Porte, Texas (June 2014 to March 2015)
Sr. Facilities Estimator
Responsibilities include estimating and scheduling various projects worldwide using Aspen Capital Cost Estimator. Work closely with designers, engineers and project managers to provide clients the most reliable cost estimates available in the industry today and do so in a cost effective and timely manner. I was also responsible for estimating various EPC projects ranging from $23,000,000 (Phillips 66 – Brazoria County Site) and a Compressor Retrofit Project to try and present clients the versatility of our EPC ability to perform a vast variety of projects other than industrial plant projects. This Compressor Project was in the range of $18,000,000. I was also responsibility for a $453,000,000 project for a client (CCI) that was estimated by myself and one other estimator. The other projects that I mentioned were completely done by myself with the assistance of the various discipline leads and designers as required.
Preferred Engineering, Nassau Bay, Texas (April 2014 to June 2014)
Sr. Estimator
Duties include estimating with Aspen In-Plant Cost Estimating, Project Coordination, Scheduling and Engineering Estimating. All of the projects we estimated were EPC projects and many of the projects were for Lyondelbasell in the Bayport (or La Porte) plant facility. These EPC projects were mostly small in comparison and ranges from approximately $50,000 to $10,000,000. I was the lead estimator on these projects and was entirely responsibility for the outcome of the estimate and cost analysis. The smaller projects took me approximately 1 week to take off and return to the client for final review. The larger projects in the range took me 2 to 3 weeks in which I was still the lead estimator and scheduler and was responsible for the entire outcome of the final estimate. The various $50K projects were for pump removal and relocation and, as I stated were for Lyondelbasell in La Porte. The larger project in the range of $10M was also for the same client (Lyondelbasell) but consisted of seven (7) separate projects and required a tremendous amount of leg work and studying and site visiting to be able to complete the projects in approximately three (3) weeks. Again I was the lead estimator and was responsible for all seven projects and the final outcome of the entire Total Installed Cost (TIC). After some minor revisions, due to the packages not having the best information for estimating the cost at a +/-30% TIC, we provided our estimate to the client and they were very pleased. This enabled the client to be able to get the funding required to begin construction for most of the project and gave them a very accurate cost to perform the other project in time since we had included an escalation of 3% to allow the projects to be performed in the next year or so.
Chemic Engineers, Hitchcock, Texas (February 2012 to April 2014)
Cost Estimator
Performed estimating cost analysis for various refineries and petrochemical facilities in and around the Houston, Texas area. Also worked as a secondary project manager on a confidential project in the Bayport, Texas area. Perform various duties required to get every project completed in an efficient manner. The projects we estimated were mostly EPC. Our largest EPC project at that time was a $300,000,000 project in which we were responsible for the engineering and design, procurement, estimating, the majority of the equipment quotations. We estimated this project in 10 weeks over the Christmas and New Year holidays and finished on time and within the budget the client was expecting. Furthermore, we estimated the project using Aspen In-Plant Cost Estimator (IPE) in which many people said couldn’t be done. The majority of the estimate was completed by just two estimators but we did get a lot of additional estimating assistance with the 3000 ISO’s that we were expected and did input every piece of pipe required to complete the project.
Faithful + Gould, Houston, Texas (June 2010 to August 2011)
Lead Estimator
BP Texas City, TAR Group. Estimating TARs, Projects and Change Management for 2011 TAR Program (11 units). BP Estimating Assurance for TCACP.
Estimated construction projects for Lurgi Engineering which included all crafts. The TIC was approximately $178,000,000. Estimate responsibilities included the following:
• Compiling a complete bill of materials for all craft disciplines for estimate
• Visiting the plant site, in Oakland, California
• Separating estimate into required craft disciplines
• Developed an RFI (Request For Information) Log to document any and all questions to and from the client
• Gathered the required information from the client and bid documents to determine the onsite construction equipment
• Gathered required information to develop the construction in-directs, labor rates, productivity and basis of estimate
• Developed and distributed bills of materials to vendors for pricing quotations
• Compiled all required data for final review of material take-off, pricing quotations, equipment schedule, qualifications, construction schedule, estimate breakdown per discipline, and basis of estimate for review with management and client
• Submitted final estimate to client for review

My Background
Many of these projects were done with a time frame and on a contract basis. So when the project was completed, the project team members were laid off. That being said, I also left some of the jobs due to better working conditions and substantial pay increases. I am now looking for a place where I can continue the remainder of my career until retirement. I feel that with my years of experience and my expert ability to be able to work with others in harmony, I would be a perfect candidate for almost any position in the Senior Cost Estimating industry. If given the chance, I believe I can prove this to any company seeking the experience of a versatile estimator not only with the use of Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE) and Aspen In-Plant Cost Estimator (IPE) but also with the experience of estimating projects for Construction Companies. That is where I learned my estimating ability after spending almost 10 years working in residential, commercial and industrial electrical field as a Journeyman Electrician. Also worth mentioning is the fact that I used to be the holder of 8 Master Electrical Licenses and 1 Mechanical Master License in Louisiana.
