Position: QA/QC Client Representative Inspector
Assignment: Gulf Marine Fabricators Coelacanth Jacket Project
Third party inspection representative for prefabrication and field erection of structural steel. This consisted of dimensional and orientation verification of the various components of mud mats, legs, skirt pile sleeve assemblies and skirt piles, as well as inspection of welds, random audits to assure compliance with prescribed welding procedures and periodic audits of consumable storage. Additional assignments included inspection of flooding system tubing and chamber installation. This involved witnessing pressure testing and verifying test gauge calibration, as well as review of test charts, liaison with contractors to coordinate logistics for anticipated scaffolds, hole watch, man lift, etc. and finally, to provide client with daily quality /progress update.

Position: Client Vendor Surveillance Inspector
Assignment: Bay Ltd. Fabrication Facility
Function as third party inspection representative for all prefabrication of structural steel (AWS D-1.1) and piping (ASME B-31.3). This was a repair/replace project on The King Ranch Gas Plant. Activities included: Review all structural steel and piping MTRs to assure that all materials meet or exceed minimum industry standards. Perform dimensional and orientation check of all piping spools and structural steel fabrication, as well as verify material with BOM. Perform visual inspection of all welds. Perform visual inspection of all coatings. Review all RT film. Provide client with daily quality /progress update. Review and sign off turnover books.

Hess Petroleum (IV-AGA, LLC)
June 2012- January 2014
Position: Senior Hull Inspector/Site Rep [Spar Floating Production System] Primary objective is to monitor construction activities and progress by all relevant parties. These included Client/Third Party, Fabrication Contractor, NDE Contractor, Certified Verification Assurance, American Bureau of Shipping and U.S. Coast Guard. Witness/participate in Third Party Audits with Client QA Manager. Confer with Hess onsite personnel, including Coating Inspector, I&E Inspector, Sub-sea Inspector, EHS Representative and Quantity Surveyor, reporting to mid-management.
Concurrent with this assignment was oversight of a Production Holdback Suction Piles fabrication project. This involved material and consumable control verification, NDE audits, field fabrication audits, approval of all FAT testing and review of all FAT paperwork.

Position: Field Engineer [Benzene Reduction Unit] Assignment: Suncor Refinery Denver, CO
Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractors. Participate in monitoring and reviewing scope changes. Conduct field audits to ensure that construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes (ASME B-31.3, ASME B-31.1), specifications and design instruction. Approve all contractor welding procedures and welder qualifications. Perform final walk downs on piping systems and authorize turnover of systems to Operations. Serve as liaison between Construction Department and Engineering Department.

Oversee code vessel alteration as client representative. This project entailed installation of several nozzles associated with piping between fractionator tower and high pressure exchangers per API 510. Approve repair plan. Establish hold points. Coordinate all NDE. Review final code package.

Oversee quality control for pre-fabrication and field installation of all piping projects involved in plant wide turnaround per ASME B-31.3 and ASME B-31.1. Review all piping packages to ensure that listed NDE requirements meet owner-user specification. Approve all contractor welding procedures and welder qualifications. Coordinate NDE and PWHT. Manage inspection activities for three piping inspectors and six NDE technicians. Review all reports including RT, UT, PT, PMI, and hydro test. Audit QC personnel activities for all piping contractor companies.

Visual inspection of all bolted structural steel connections including verification of proper fastener engagement and compression of direct tension indicators. Witness all bolt lot pretension verification (Skidmore testing). Perform random dimensional audits. Assisted unit inspectors in gathering and evaluation of data for upcoming turnaround in 2010. Primary responsibilities included functioning as R.T. coordinator and on-site safety representative for local X-ray companies. Evaluated piping profile R.T. for film quality and determined actual wall thickness using ratio derived from nominal size versus ”blow-up factor”. Based on this information, determinations were then made regarding corrosion rates and remaining life, as well as recommendations to create new TML’s or delete existing ones. Also performed extensive API-570 external piping inspections.
