CNC Machinist/shift supervisor/Production Control Clerk – Hampton Hydraulics
I was interested in your job posting, and would like to learn more about this opportunity. My wife and myself both currently work full time. She has family in Cannon Falls MN and we want to migrate closer to them. I will need to give notice to my present employer, as will my wife. However, as a nurse, it will be much easier for her to gain employment after we sell our house, so it seems prudent that I be the first to “head north”!
I am presently employed and have over thirty years in manufacturing environments. Previously, I was a CNC Turret Press set up man for 5 years, then promoted to days shift supervisor for 7 years, within a union shop. Presently, I began as a CNC HMC and VMC machinist, then through spindle CNC 2 axis lathe with live tooling, with both 3 and 4 jaw chucks. I then was promoted to second shift supervisor. During the economic slowdown I have been moved to Production Control Clerk, while doing “as needed machinist” work about 20% of the time on day shift, mostly covering employee absents.
My expertise involves CNC equipment with FANUC controllers; however, I have trained on MAZAK lathes with mazatrol conversational programing. Measuring equipment of all types are a regular part of the job: IE, Micrometers, calipers, snap gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges; Tooling consisting of: carbide drills, face and end mills, Quad drills, bore bars, thread mills, and high tolerance profile tools for hydraulics valving, also similar tools used for lathes. Also hand tools of all types are a normal part of the job for deburring on edges, intersecting holes, and/or surface preparation.
I have trained in GD&T, set up reduction (JIT), single minute exchange of dies (SMED), Cellular Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Pinch-Point Safety, and Handling Difficult People. I have been the liaison when purchasing a robotic Turret/Right Angle Shear system (FMS) and went on to manage that machine center, among others in my department.
Computer use is a daily task; IE: excel, word, outlook, JD Edwards, and the use of our CNC file management system for all CNC machines. I previously used AutoCAD in the past.
I work best when objectives are clear. I have an unorthodox method that helps me to achieve those objectives by finding information/answers from people that others traditionally have overlooked. I am a people person and am more comfortable walking the floor to find answers than sitting behind a desk interpreting data. Data is important, but so is feeling/touching the process first hand. I am punctual and believe that I am a representative of my company on and off the job. Thank you.
